❓ Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is a Bank Reconciliation Statement (BRS)?
A Bank Reconciliation Statement (BRS) is an accounting statement prepared to match the bank balance in a company’s Cash Book with the balance shown in the bank’s Passbook/Statement as on a specific date, explaining any differences between the two.
Why does Cash Book balance differ from Bank Passbook balance?
Differences occur due to timing gaps (e.g., cheques issued but not yet presented for payment, cheques deposited but pending clearance) and direct bank entries (e.g., bank charges, interest credited, direct customer transfers).
How are unpresented cheques treated in BRS?
Cheques issued to vendors reduce your Cash Book balance immediately. However, until the vendor presents them at the bank, the Bank Passbook balance remains higher. Therefore, unpresented cheques are ADDED to the Cash Book balance in BRS.
Can I print or save the generated BRS report as PDF?
Yes! Click the ‘🖨️ Print BRS’ button to print or save the report as PDF, or click ‘📋 Copy Text Report’ to paste into email or Tally voucher narration.
